1994

Antes de que finalice el año y escriba un resumen con los discos más destacados que se han publicado este 2014, quería recordar los álbumes que han cumplido 20 años. Porque surgieron en una época en la que coincidieron en el tiempo varios factores artísticos y sociales en las escenas musicales de Gran Bretaña y Estados Unidos (sonido Seattle) principalmente: el punto más álgido de popularidad tanto del britpop como del grunge (incluyendo la repercusión mundial que tuvo la muerte de Kurt Cobain) y el reconocimiento a nivel comercial del trip hop (originario de Brístol), lo que quizá convirtió 1994 en el mejor año de la historia...

Y por si todo esto no fuera suficiente, también hay que recordar artistas míticos que, aunque no publicaron disco en 1994, estaban en su mejor momento: The Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, The Verve, Soul Asylum, Teenage Fanclub, Alice in Chains, The Lemonheads, The Boo Radleys, Texas, Björk, PJ Harvey, Yo La Tengo, Slowdive o Faith No More.

Además de otros grupos que empezaban a tomar forma y lanzaron su álbum de debut al año siguiente, como es el caso de Silverchair, Wilco, Supergrass, Elastica, Gene, Cast, Sleater-Kinney, Catatonia, Blink-182, Foo Fighters y Garbage.
